Tim Andrews is a internationally recognized ceramicist who focuses his skill on throwing (and only more recently, hand building). The artists work is recognizable for his distinctive smoke-fired and raku techniques; he is also an accomplished teacher and exhibitor, having participated in shows from England to America, as well as instructing from Tuskany to Denmark. While the majority of Andrews work is non-functional, they hold their own by demanding attention and exuding a presence.
“My work is really about form and surface. The pieces are non-functional and have to ‘justify their existence’ by imparting a ‘presence’ - does it have life; does it sing? Elusive qualities but worth striving for when everything comes together.”
